Aquaculture Wind Wave Energy

AWWE Design from 2018

The picture shows a wave energy converter with wind turbines and fish cages.

The technology of overtopping is used for the WEC.

The water is collected between the red hinged ramps and the green cages.

The blue spots at each corner are turbines, changing the water flow to electricity.

By using 3 wind turbines of 8 MW the total effect will be about 40 MW from wind and waves.

13 cages for aquaculture with a total of 10000 tons of salmon.

It is 300 m between the wind turbines.

The government of Norway will in 2025 have an auction for floating wind technology, where € 3 billion of subsidies will finance 500 MW at Utsira North.

The overtopping technology for wave energy together with wind turbines and aquaculture can give energy with LCOE at € 0,07/kWh.

To get 500 MW we need 13 AWWE.

Total investment of 500 MW is € 4 billion.

Ventyr won the auction at South North Sea II with € 0,09/kWh.

Subsidies of € 2 billion will be paid over 15 years to Ventyr.

€ 3 billion for 500 MW at Utsira North maybe won with € 0,12/kWh.

The calculation for income will be € 0,12-0,07 = 0,05/kWh.

Energy production each year is 1,8 TWh.

CAPEX energy an aquaculture together € 280 million

Rental aquaculture: € 1/kg salmon.

Rental income from aquaculture each year: € 130 million

CAPEX energy alone: € 150 million

OPEX € 0,01/kWh

LCOE € 0,07 kWh

Income € 0,12 – 0,07 = 0,05/kWh

Investors income each year: € 100 million

An alternative is 10 traditional round cages
